Portly Eats & Drinks | Aperitivo [Feast Day December 8th]

Long lazy afternoons spent on holiday in France or Italy are the memories that get us through the coldest of winter evenings, Aperitivo and Aperitif is something we lack in The UK constantly having to go or be somewhere. For me at the moment Aperitivo is part everyday life, living on the east coast of Italy. Those long afternoons are a key part of the culture and tradition here, Aperitivo rules above all else.

In the early evening the streets are full of locals heading for a light bite and something to drink, some stick to coffee but most have something a little more interesting. Aperol and Campari Spritz being among the favourites. Apertivo is a perfect time of the day to sit back and enjoy the evening sunshine.

It normally costs around €5-10 for a drink and food comes free! What could be better for a long lazy afternoon to chat and relax with your friends. I think it should definitely be something that we should adopt in England, I think we would be a whole lot more chilled out as a result.

I went to Caffe Venezia and ordered myself a Campari Spritz. I’ve grown rather fond of them in recent weeks, even buying the Campari soda so I can make them at home with some Prosecco. The Spritz came with an assortment or snacks and because of the feast day on December 8th for a little extra we had some fantastic fish and a bowl of some of the nicest Pasta I have even eaten!
