Portly Cooks | Uni Recipes – Beef Mince Pasta

Beef Mince Pasta

Carrying on the theme of University food from my previous post, this one was a staple at Uni, well for me at least. It’s super cheap, dead easy to make and really rather tasty too. It has a handful of ingredients which even the most novice student cook can make into something edible, trust me.

  • 200g Beef Mince
  • 75g Spirali Pasta (or whichever you like really)
  • 1 Beef Oxo cube
  • 50g Savoy Cabbage cut into thin strips
  • ½ glass red wine
  • Garlic powder

Get a large pan or wok really hot and boil the kettle. Once your pan is up to heat drizzle a little oil and brown the beef mince. Make sure you drain any excess fat that comes out of the meat.  In another pour the water from the kettle over the pasta, season and simmer until cooked.

Once the beef has browned, season, add garlic powder about half a teaspoon and crumble over the Oxo cube.  Give it all a good stir and then add the savoy cabbage and red wine.  Finally add the cooked pasta and stir it all together. Stick it in a bowl and enjoy!
